Thank you
For helping me to put together an international solo on ”Lanna“. This online exhibition, comprising 20 parts, is from May 6 to June 5, 2025
I AM DEEPLY grateful to everyone who supported and guided me in bringing this Lanna photography-cum-storytelling exhibition, my third solo, to life. Your kindness and encouragement made this journey unforgettable:
Stephen Menon, my curator, who advised me to reshape the contents in a way that makes this photo exhibition an extension of my painted works especially in the treatment of colours. Stephen, an artist-printer of international repute, leads the ArtVoice community (AVC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. AVC has been responsible for supporting and developing many young and veteran artists, like me, over the years.
O Art Space Gallery in Lahore, Pakistan, who graciously agreed to host this online solo exhibition of mine. My particular thanks go to Omer Nab (Gallery Director) and Aadil Habib (Gallery Manager). O Art Space is a dynamic hub for contemporary art, renowned for its avant-garde approach and commitment to fostering cultural dialogue.
Wattana Wattanapun, my friend and host in Chiang Mai, who introduced me to the high-powered local art fraternity and pointed me to several places of great symbolic interest. Wattana, a very senior artist, is Director, Wattana Art Gallery.
Jaffee Yee, my host in Chiang Rai, who pointed me to the Akha people and, in a short span, helped me sample a wide range of Lanna food. Hailing from my hometown, Penang, Malaysia, he is an award-winning veteran publisher and “artpreneur” with a 30-year career.
RM Naeem of Lahore, a notable curator and artist, for his invaluable advice.
Kenneth Ang, my former staff member who now lives in Chiangmai and Lou (Sampan Tewata), our driver, for being enthusiastic fellow searchers, guides and translators.
William de Cruz, former colleague and friend, and Kenneth, for reading and commenting on the draft text.
